Cartoon Network ??? a sort-of update to the Saved by the Bell insanity, and explanations : (
Good grief... how weird. It's gonna be sad if TW effectively kills off one of the last of Ted's creations. (Of course they lost me when they let the stoners take over... the Powerpuff Girls were the last good thing CN did, IMO.)
Samurai Jack too, was gorgeous, and i've discovered tons of stuff i never knew of, like Cowboy Bebop and stuff---i don't know why they don't go more for that stuff (unless it's too expensive?)
When I first saw this post I thought that it was just like MTV. It started out with music on TV. Then again, ESPN shows poker playing which isn't really a sport. CN not having 100% cartoons is next.
I suppose there will be a time when the Weather Channel will drift away from showing the weather.
Saved by the Bell sucks. Why don't they put the live action shit on Nickelodeon?
As long as they keep ATHF I'll be around for adult swim.
they've discussed the difficulty of getting good anime for their programming on their forums. it basically comes down to the fact that a property can only be licensed by one network at a time. a lot of places hold licenses on matieral they haven't aired yet, which keeps adult swim from airing it. so when people beg to see Bastard! aired, it doesn't happen because some Time Warner affiliate licensed it and then never aired it when they found out how vulgar it is, etc...
on the other hand, it's worth mentioning that some of the best anime I've ever seen in my life has aired on [as], such as ghost in the shell: stand alone complex, Fooly Cooly, Blue Gender, and Paranoia Agent. with the exception of GIS:SC, most of those shows are universally panned by [as]'s less-than-sophisticated audience because they're either quirky and not as immediately accessible (FLCL, Paranoia Agent) or don't involve schoolgirl upskirst every 5 minutes (Blue Gender, Paranoia Agent). So blame the Inuyasha fans, who desperately need to grow up and learn what a good story looks like.
what concerns me about the live action thing is this: what does "That's so Raven" have to do with adult swim? they're not the same time slot or audience. huh?
I'm amazed that That's So Raven kills anything in ratings. It's about the most universally terrible show I've ever seen.
(And yeah, just when I was starting to get into Paranoia Agent and FLCL, they're either moved or off the air. But then again, their demographic is high school stoner morons, otherwise Bobobobobo wouldn't be on).
