17 April 2006

94 degrees and the average is 72... so wrong *sweats profusely*
Weretable, I just this second got off the phone with my brother. He's working outside right now, and he said it's been 95 for a few days, and more of the same is coming.

Meanwhile, we had our first sunny day here in, oh, many weeks. It's about 70, gloriously sunny, breezy, and the birds are singing.

I don't mean to rub it in. But man, I don't envy y'all.

Been a hot spell here, too... and this weekend we found our AC wasn't working. So this morning was one of those, "shower, dress, feel so sweaty you wish you could shower again" mornings as we got ready for work.

However, thanks to Mr. BP's authoritative phone voice, he got someone out here TODAY to fix it. (And it turns out the problem is that they forgot to reconnect something when they put our new air filters in about 10 days ago... grrr.) I'd have been a lot more pissed if this happened during a REAL heat wave, but still.

Yeah, hot & dry here too. It hasn't rained in way too long, and I really hope this isn't a taste of things to come.

99 degrees in Texas. Spring lasted, oh, about two weeks.

We set an all-time record high for the entire month of April today. Gah.

Hah. I totally don't miss Texas right now. It's been in the seventies here. WONDERFUL.

SHUT UP!

Nothing but rain here.

It was so quiet when the power went out. All the A/C units in the neighborhood shut down. The fan was off, fridge too.

We sat and ate a cold dinner, and thought about the implications for our long Texas summer.

Then our turn was over, and someone else had to sit through the rolling blackout.

Ugh. I feel your pain, weretable. My stupid apartment complex has one of the old-fashioned chiller type contraptions that provides heat or AC for the entire place. They aren't turning on the AC until May 1st. I'm trying to wait patiently for the forecasted thunderstorms (like we need more of those).

Temporary solution = nice cold beer. Repeat as needed.
