So, had a bad dream, got up, and put on tv--What's Happening was on TV Land--a fav from when i was young--usual story about Raj supposed to be watching Dee (who i love) and being responsible in general, but messing up--it ends with this exchange: "Roger, git me yo belt". "Dont have one Momma, these are my new pants." "Here Mrs. Thomas, you can use mine."(and Rerun hands her his gigantic long belt) - "Good Lord Rerun, I wanna whip him, not hang him!" with them all hysterically laughing for the fade out.

I was actually shocked.

Hon, we still spank our younguns here in the South. When I was young, no one blinked an eye about using a belt on our behinds. In fact my aunt wore striped bruises on my butt once-these days mom would have hauled her to CPS but then she just got an apology (and I didn't even deserve the whuppin, to add insult to injury.)

That's the funny thing about any kind of punishment, it's almost always either undeserved or inadequate.

it wasn't the whipping--i was hit all the time, and of course kids still are---it was the hanging joke.
