Long weekend! So what are the bunnies up to?[More:]
I'm sitting at work wishing I could leave already to catch the ferry to Galiano Island. (I'm blessed with a very cool uncle who lives there & loves it when I come visit.) Also, thinking whether I'll have time to pick up brandy on the way--it's the only thing that makes BC Ferries coffee drinkable.

I'm going to my new apartment to help renovate it as much as I can! :) Wallpepr down, pick new floors, wallpaper up, tear out the old bathrooms. Hurting myself with hammers. That sort of thing. :)

It's not a long weekend for me... gotta work like usual on Friday.

oi, galiano island is frickin' gorgeous!

No long weekend for me either (altho my boss is out Fri and Mon -- so I'll leave early both days!)

Buying plants (mostly flowers, one tomato), planting them and generally sprucing up our deck/yard area.

Gonna go camping, barring the contingency that my friend Andrew will get roped into going to work on saturday. Worst case scenario - day hike and some all-you-can-eat sushi.

Why is friday a day off for some people? I didn't get that memo.

It's a day off for me because my daughter's preschool is closed.

Ok, fess up, how many of you are in preschool?

Tomorrow I am going to work. And then on Saturday I am going to work. And then on Saturday night I am going to drink beer with friends. And then on Sunday I am going to work.

elizard, thank you! It never even crossed my mind that my office might not be open tomorrow (I only work part-time and didn't work today) until I saw your post. I just called with 10 minutes to spare before the receptionist left for the day, and learned that the office is indeed closed. If I had gotten up at 6 am, put on a suit, and driven downtown for no reason I would have been grumpy.

The extra day just means more time to do schoolwork and study for finals. I live a thrilling life, too. But if it's as beautiful tomorrow as it was today, I'll be spending a lot of time outside again.

Tomorrow I'm speaker at a lunchtime AA meeting. Football on TV in the evening (Man Utd vs Sunderland).

Food shopping on Saturday, a friend's coming to dinner and I'm doing a Rachel Ray recipe of Cuban Pork Tenderloin. We don't get Rachel Ray on TV here but I saw her make this when I was in the States last year and found the recipe online.

No plans for Sunday yet, Monday will probably be more football on TV and, if I get up early enough, I'll go to a big outdoor market a few miles away. Oh, and I plan to buy a camera too, thanks to the advice from you good people.

It sure is, dabitch. And it's full of wonderfully eccentric ex-hellraisers like my cherished uncle (who always insists he should've been my dad). And rich people. But we just ignore them, and sit in the kitchen drinking homemade wine and swearing and eating a lot.

Why is friday a day off for some people? I didn't get that memo.

But that's what makes this Friday so Good, surely? I work in a mostly unionized educational institution, so we get the Friday as well as the Monday.

amro--you're welcome!

I'm seeing Rev Horton Heat tomorrow - woo-hoo!

I am rototilling the garden and getting drunk. (Or should I do it the other way around?)
posted by LarryC 13 April | 16:09
dodgy, I think I'm developing an internet music-specific crush on you.
posted by elizard 13 April | 16:09
dodgy, I saw the Reverend a few years ago, and it was one of the creepiest music-related experiences of my life. He sends out major perv vibes. But the music was good!

Youngest bunnydaughter turns 19 on Saturday...she's off with her homies that day so Sunday will not only be Easter but birthday celebration as well.

As soon as I get out of the three services our church has for the day, that is. Oh, the joys of being on the worship team.

Will someone please clean my house and write two papers for me this week?

Hmm, one part of me wants the excuse not to work, another part of me is saying that I'd need to do the work anyway, and the final part of me is just confused by the whole religious aspect of the statutary holidays.

It seems if you're going to be a rock n roll singer then pervy is almost a pre-requisite of the job. And I've had the good fortune to see the Rev before - one of my fave gigs ever. So you could say I'm a little bit excited.

I'll be working without a supervisor because she's taking the day off. And since I totally kicked ass working from home today (and by "working" I mean making apple curry and watching "Fullmetal Alchemist") I don't have to do all that much.

That is, until my guilt at not getting all of a certain company's releases for June into the database yet eats at me.

Probly going to Algarrobo, beach town 1.5 hours from Santiago, where my folks have an apartment.
And working, of course.

Long weekend? What? Is this some kind of religion thing?

I'm paying my taxes and emptying the litter box, and, hopefully, sleeping quite a lot. Tomorrow I will be at work and I'm sure it will suck as much as today did.

Yeah. Oddly enough, Good Friday is not an official holiday at [multinational entertainment giant represented in the public imagination by a cartoon mouse]

On the plus side, my boss is taking a vacation day tomorrow.

I am in NYC visiting the wife's family in Corona before we depart to Hawaii for my next tour. Never been here, damn its big.

I saw the Rev open for Social Distortion at a show that ended in a brawl. I got kicked in the head. It was bad ass.

Tomorrow is a trip to the local nursery. It has a tropical greenhouse with a waterfall and a mountain of pansies with a tunnel through it.

Then Sunday I'm hosting Easter Brunch for my clan. There will be an egg hunt and a pinata and an egg roll and someday when I'm long gone my nieces and nephews will all get together and reminisce about how much fun they always had at aunt rossi's house. (Or at least that's what I tell myself everytime I throw obscene amounts of money and effort into family gatherings.)

A new wood fired pizza place, a new creperie, and a new trattoria opened in our neighborhood in the last couple of weeks so we will be eating out.

Friday: a paper due
Saturday: friends baptizing their kids i.e. major greek socializing and feasting (that should be fun, except I got no new clothes)
Sunday: going to work
Monday: major meeting in our institute.

What weekend off? I don't know what you are all talking about.

A lot of Canucks, including the mister, have both Good Friday and Easter Monday off. Yay Canada!

I did make the point to the mister after he had wished the umpteenth person "Happy Easter" that he might want to say "Happy Passover" instead (which is funny in itself as he doesn't do Easter any more than I do). Then I had to explain to him what Passover was. Oy vey! Really, tho', I haven't noticed a large Jewish presence here in the Greater Vancouver area of BC.

I once went to work for a crazy guy in California, and on my first day he gave me a list of the paid holidays, and Easter was on the list.

"Easter?" I said. "Easter's always on a Sunday."

"It is?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure??"

"Well, yes. It's called Easter Sunday, you know."

This crazy guy was a PhD in his 50s, and he was FLABBERGASTED to learn that Easter is always on a Sunday. Bad Sign Number One for that job . . . .
