Burlington ON Canada info request →[More:]I'm headed up for a week July 24-28 and need some logistics info. The flight's easy (I think) I can do a direct Air Canada into Toronto (not center city but Pearson, I think). The conference is in Burlington. Questions:

Do I need to rent a car? If so, what side of the road do you guys drive on?
Is there public transport between Toronto and Burlington, and within Burlington?
Should I have some Canadian currency or just do the debit card thing?

I'm sure I'll have more, but I can't think of anything at the moment.

Debit cards are pretty much ubitquious up here in the frozen north, but you'll get dinged at least a buck on every transaction by your bank and/or the network. I would recommend getting here then getting cash from an ATM. You'll still get dinged, but only once.

And we drive on the right. Except on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It seemed to me that most places are happy to take American dollars in place of Canadian (i.e. at a 1-to-1 exchange rate, which is a big ripoff, but if you're just buying a donut or something it's okay, and you'll get Canadian change.) Also, U.S. credit/debit cards work just fine.

One more option for your flight that might be easier/cheaper is to go into Buffalo, which is 67 miles from Burlington.

A loss of $0.128 on the dollar at today's exchange rate, to be precise. Much better than four years ago.
