has anyone else seen that "secret love" commercial for LOTR? It just was on...and it's all about Frodo and Sam? as if they're lovers. (i needed the smile.)

I've seen it on adult swim. I figured it was one of those brokeback-themed clips they adapted for tv. Pretty good. And yes, the gandalf reaction shot makes it.

Heh. The first thing that occurs to me, without seeing the commercial, mind you, is that Tolkien would NEVER have gone for that. Not because he was homophobic, really, hell no, but because Sam was, gasp, lower class than Frodo, and that sort of mesalliance must never, ever be allowed.
