Just about all the guys we know (including 2 of my 3 brothers-in-law) have had the snip. It's hip to snip. None, as far as I know, have had any complications. Good luck (and good for you!).

You'll hear a lot of scare stories, so beware. For me, there was a lot of discomfort for a day that quickly diminished over time. I felt pretty much normal after about three days. There was also no discernible change to my libido or performance, so I wouldn't worry about that either.

I did my own shaving at home, which saved some time in prep, but not everyone feels confident doing that. The incision is really small and most guys heal fairly quick. They'll tell you how to care for the incision site so get used to checking things out, if you know what I mean. If you wear boxers, consider picking up some briefs. You'll probably feel better with things "under control".

I know you're having yours done on a Wednesday, I hope you're taking some additional time off. I had mine on a Friday, I was fine by Monday, but it was a quiet weekend for me.

Post-operative testing was kind of strange, you might want to have someone "lend a hand". Once you're clear, the fun can begin in earnest.

Odd trivia note: My doctor was Dr. Stopp, famous in the Rochester area for the numerous vasectomies he performed over the years.

As a man (you can't tell by my user name), let me tell you that any short term distress has long term benefits.

If your wife takes the Pill now, she can stop. The two of you will gain several days a month when she is fertile. If your experience is like mine, this is going to be a hot, wet, slippery experience.

Also, they have you shave the boys. As the hair grows back it is prickly. A little cloth sack, such as the end of a child's sock, helps while it grows back.

I am VERY glad I had it done. It was done on a Thursday, so I booked Friday off as well, and made sure I had a green light to lay in bed with frozen peas on my crotchal region while watching non-sexy DVDs. The blood in that area freaked me out the first time I had to pee, but the missus said it was normal to have incisions bleed some.

Anyway, long story short, I think more guys should do it, and in fact, I think medical science should get the reversal technology improved to the point that we can do it to all 14 year old boys, until they are ready to be potent again. Yup.

The mister had it done many years ago and he functions just fiiiiiiine.

My husband had it done almost 19 years ago. The plumbing works just fine.

As an aside, HIS doctor's name was Dr. Peters.

Mr R had it done over a decade ago. No effect on libido or performance, once he healed. Really, his biggest problem was keeping the 20 pound cat off his lap for a few days.

I hear there's a new technique these days where the doctor uses two bricks to smash your nuts to a pulp. Doesn't hurt. Unless the doctor gets his thumbs in the way, of course. Bashed thumbs hurt like a bitch.
