tulips are finally starting to get going [More:]

A lot of my tulips will likely not bloom this year, I moved many of them last fall and I have noticed they often take a year to bloom again (the species and hardier tulips that is, most of the really fancy cultivars only bloom a few years and then go away to begin with).

Anyway, this is my favorite of the new tulips (it is also only the second to bloom, so "favorite" might not last long) that I bought last fall.
It's beautiful, weretable.

Nice! Ours are just starting to send up buds. I check them every day, sometimes several times a day. Our hyacinths are sending up buds too, but all we've planted are relatively young. C'mon little guys!

Beautiful Beautifl. You're in the NW weretable? I'm in the SE. . .wondering if I should put some random fertilizer down so my tomatoes aren't bitter this year. I'm not going to get my soil tested or anything. .

Those are some beautiful flowers, weretable. I love the intense colour of the hyacinth, too. Thanks.

I didn't plant any bulbs last fall because I'm renting and wasn't sure how long I'd be staying, but now I'm inspired--will definitely put in some bulbs this year. If I'm not there, others will enjoy them.

I live in Arkansas actually. It IS NW Arkansas though.

eli, if you mark them somehow you can dig them up and plant them at your new place.

Do you tip-toe through them?

weretable, I hadn't thought of that--thanks for the tip.

What lovely tulips. I love spring flowers. I made plans this week to visit some bluebell woods in Essex, at the end of April (spring is late in England this year).

My favourite spring flower is the hyacinth. At Kew Gardens the other week there was a glassed-off area full of them. Their perfume is almost intoxicating. Just beautiful, beautiful.
