I discriminate. →[More:]We're hiring temp workers for next quarter, and as I scroll through the resumes I find myself going, oh, this person is old, they wouldn't want to work for someone young like me, oh, this person is a man, we're an all female office, they'd probably be difficult to deal with. Isn't it weird the way personal prejudices pop up? I'm trying to put that stuff aside and let experience matter most. It's still hard.

Everyone does, you've got to have some judging criteria.

Try to not look at their names or age identifiers, just at what they've done. And bring 'em in if they fit your needs and let them sell themselves to you.

And, for the record, I'd prefer to work for a younger woman than an older woman. Especially one with such a dazzling smile!

So you want to discriminate based on experience and skills but not on how well they would fit in in the office?

I'm just sayin' the whole hiring process is a process of discrimination, you just have to pick the criteria that are important.

Yea, I think you're right- what's most important to us is to have workers who are comfortable on computers and can pick up our process easily. We've comprised a little test to give them to see if they can figure it out. Hopefully we'll find some talented people we like a lot, but I'd settle for talent.

Hire someone you know to be incompetent, then you won't have to be surprised at the incompetence of supposedly qualified people. Such as my co-workers.
