my opinion of "house of the dead" is that it may not have been the best film i have ever seen, but damn it entertained me, you may ask why? it was fun something which "28 days later" & "land of the dead" (do we really need a deep meaning or subtext to every film we see?).

There's a tax code in germany where if you plunk a whole fuckload of money into a movie that bombs horrifically, it's the best tax shelter in the country. So Uwe, who is exceptionally well connected through his well-to-do family, makes these cinematic shit-stains tailored to flop for the wealthy in germany. Apparently the law that allows this will expire soon (if it hasn't already by now) but allows for all money plunked into a movie BEFORE the expiration which has not yet been completed to still qualify for the tax benefit. That's why he's in production or pre-production for like 6 video game movies right now.
