I'm wearing pigtails today!→[More:]A friend of mine told me that there's an age cap on wearing your hair in pigtails, and that mine is fast approaching.
Is this true, bunnies?
I'm making up for all the years I couldn't have them as a kid, because my parents insisted I have a bowl cut/hamill-syle wedge!
When I was about 26, a girl I knew told me I was too old to wear the two long french braids that I was wearing at the time. That girl was a bitch, though. Wear your hair however you want!
It is "Πιπι, φακιδομυτη" in greek. I loved it as a child. I used to ask my mom to get me some freckles. I think this is why I adore freckled faces. And now you got the tune stuck in my head... Great!
wrt the age thing, sasshat -- yeah, I think that's personal for everyone. I would feel dumb wearing pigtails now at age 30, but my friend S. wears them (and rocks them) all the time, and she's a few years older than me.
So who knows? Maybe you'll be a pigtail-wearer for the next 5 decades...

I've always thought of them as...a little silly-looking for an adult, but functional. On a hot, sticky day braiding keeps me cooler than putting my hair up.
mrs richat wears them sometimes, and she's older than 30...I would be more specific, but I think it's bad form to out your wife's age on the internet. I think she pulls it off well.
Huh...I never knew there was an age cutoff. You've got to have the personality for it, that's all.
Maybe I just think that because I'm waaayy over the cutoff, but hane no problem with the pigtails.
By the way, I've always been confused about what people mean by 'pigtails'. There might be regional variations. Some people seem to define them as strictly braids. But others seem to classify any multiple ponytail as 'pigtail'.
When I was an actual little girl, I often rocked the 70s look we called 'dogears', which was two long ponytails on either side. Thick yarn tie optional.
When I was an actual kid my braids were LONG -- down to my waist. I got called "Pocahontas" a lot. Now that I'm way over the cutoff, they're silly stubby little things.
However, I just got a haircut and it'll be a month or so till I'll have enough to braid.
