This is a thread for cover songs. [More:] I don't know what else Mondays are good for.
  1. Vivek Shraya performing "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow.
  2. Death Cab For Cutie performing "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
  3. Tori Amos performing "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen.
  4. The Dismemberment Plan performing "Crush" by Jennifer Paige.
Cathy Berberian performing "Yellow Submarine".

Ray Barretto - Pastime Paradise (This is, of course, a cover of that Coolio song from Dangerous Minds.)

Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Peter Gunn
(Ah, Mancini--the mascot's best friend.)

A cover of the Cops theme song with a nod to 7 Seconds' Walk Together, Rock Together.

From the same album, a cover of the Beverly Hillbillies theme song by Butt Trumpet with a nod to Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf, which was also adapted by the Butthole Surfers as "Sweet Loaf".

Tool's version of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter is sublime.
Nevermore's version of Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence is anything but (silent, that is).
Delight's version of George Michael's Careless Whisper makes a really bad song a little less really bad.
Dream Theater's medley of three Led Zeppelin songs (The Rover, Achilles Last Stand, The Song Remains the Same) is, um, good.

Also, Faith No More's "War Pigs" is way better than Black Sabbath's original, but I don't have that particular song on my work computer. If I remember, I'll upload it from home.

*Mike Ness (of Social Distortion) doing Don't Think Twice It's Alright
*The Rheostatics doing the Canadian staple, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
*Rufus Wainwright doing his dad's One Man Guy
*Sarah Harmer doing Bruce Cockburn's Waiting for a miracle at the Junos in 2001.
*The Replacements doing The Only Ones' power pop gem, Another Girl, Another Planet.
