Dear Bunnies: New info on bunny-related IRC channel inside.
→[More:]
A group of regular IRC users have spent the past couple days discussing how to transition away from #metachat into a new channel.
Everyone agreed that at this point, we're happy having a single channel instead of 6 or 7 cliquish ones.
The group decided that our new home will be #bunnies, which is hosted on Slashnet just like #metachat was.
To access it, go to
irc://irc.slashnet.org/bunnies.
For those of you who aren't terribly comfortable with your mad IRC skills, accessing the channel is no different from how you got to #metachat. The only difference is that there's no handy button for you to click on the Metachat front page.
You'll find an easy link from the
Wiki, though, as well as a link to the Slashnet page that will show you who is currently chatting in #bunnies.
You'll also find the email addresses of the channel operators. Any of us would be happy to help any of you in any way we can.
We think this will be a smooth and painless transition, and that future IRC days will seem no different from the past. (In fact, there are a bunch of folks there now. So, business as usual.)
Just remember to be good to each other as a courtesy to your fellow users, and to dodgy and taz -- because even though they no longer host the channel, we're all there because of them, and we owe them our better angels. Keep that metachat spirit alive over in #bunnies, even though it's no longer "officially" affiliated with the site. Go team.
Thanks to everyone for their input, feedback, ideas, patience, etc.
