Whatcha doing this weekend, MeCha? →[More:]For me, it's a Meet Internet Friends weekend- on Saturday, I'm having brunch with a blogger friend from Chicago- very excited to meet her, we've been exchanging e-mails, cards and break-up gifts for a long time. She's a doll.

Then, Sunday, New York Metafilter meetup, starring scarabic, mathowie, and the rest of the Mefi/MeCha gang. Can't wait- I think it'll be great fun!

Still not sure what to do with myself tonight- I am looking for excitement, to be sure.

Shostakovich at the Symphony, and then dinner involving raw oysters, with ikkyu2 cuz he's awesome (and mmmmmmmm, oysters... I've been on a total oyster kick lately), then three-hour yoga workshop on Sunday (assuming it doesn't get cancelled like the last one). The time in between is still up for grabs.

We're going out with friends on Saturday. I'm going to party like a rock star.

And mr. rossi has decided to burn up some vaca days by taking next week off. The kid's got school, so we'll have lots of time alone together. I'm so excited, I've been running around the house yelling SPRING BREAK!! and flashing my hooters.

I have to do a family kind of thing tomorrow, which I'm not much interested in doing... but, oh well.

Sunday, mr. taz is working out of town, so I'll be internetting and reading mostly, I suppose. That's okay. I like that stuff.

But tonight I'm making gumbo, because it always cheers me up and makes me amazed at myself. So one thing I will definitely be doing this weekend is eating taz's special black magic voodoo gumbo... and that means that it will probably be a pretty great weekend.

I decided not to go to LA like i was supposed to...and i had already taken the time off from work. So, i'm gonna a 5 day "weekend" as a birthday present to myself...

And i replaced my friends cd/dvd burner in his laptop, so he bought me a nice bottle of pinot noir...i'll probably drink that sometime this weekend...

In between: burn MeCha mix cds, get them mailed, gym a couple of times, finish a couple books, work on my cross stitch, go for a run in central park and a bit of cleaning. Also a couple of hours of work.

No meet-up on Sunday, gas???

No plans. Tons of laundry though, as I am still living out of my suitcase from Puerto Rico...and still peeling by the way which is gross and annoying.

Then deciding whether or not I want to go to the meet-up on Sunday which knowing myself and my weekend habits I will probably flake.

Plus, I have a bunch of vegetables to eat before I have to chuck them. T, said I would end up discarding 80% of my produce so I have to prove him wrong for once!!!

I'm still not sure if I'm going to the meetup or not. This band that's playing in Brooklyn -- I know 2 of the boys from my hometown. Actually, I know their ex-bandmate very well - he's been dating one of my best friends for 5 years. Their previous band imploded (after an amazing start - went from high school band in a small town in NZ to having Steve Albini produce some of their stuff), and the band that's playing on Sunday formed out of that band (without my friend). They just played at SXSW and I'm really keen to see them.

can I just say that I love the fact that Kiwis, Aussies, and Brits still use the word 'keen,' unironically. Here in America it's usually associated with that commercial 'It's yum-yum fun that's cool and keen, and it's name is the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine...'

Different usage though, jonmc. I've never heard anyone in NZ describe anything as "keen" ("that sure is keen"). But "I'm keen to.... [do something]" -- that's definitely used.

The only thing I have on tap for this weekend is to go to D.C. for a danceparty on Saturday night which I might flake on. I've got a paper and an article to write, lots of homework to catch up on and a TiVo to devour. Saturday morning I have to to go temple related to my dad's wedding next week. To say that I'm dreading it is a bit of an understatement.

work on Saturday and part of Sunday (I do love my work but sometimes I want to do other things too, duh!) Ah yes! and buy a new dvd player for those baby videos that the kids love (and it's the only time they leave me alone!)

Remove as much ink stain as possible from the wood floors, then rewax.
Shop for a new sliding glass door.
Hang the hammock and get a bit relaxed.

I'm going to a party tonight to welcome back a friend who's been doing her anthropology field work in Poland. The best part is it's a pizza and beer type party, except that I'm still not well enough to drink yet.

Saturday I need to finish touching up the scans of the final artwork for the comic I'm trying to wrap up before this year's MoCCA event. I was also hoping to fit V for Vendetta into Saturday's schedule, but we'll have to see because I also have to do all my other weekend odds'n'ends that day.

Sunday, I'm driving down to some town in Southern New Jersey to buy a van to use to move the band's gear around town and for longer distances like this summer's mini-tour. After we bring it back up this way, we'll also have band practice. These are the things keeping me from the ny meet-up. :(

I'm going to an alumnae event at my college tonight, then hopping straight in the car after that and driving 250 miles to New Jersey and then going to sleep and then going to breakfast with my mom (hopefully not my dad too) so she'll maybe stop crying when she calls me and then I'm making three king cakes and then I'm driving to Philadelphia to visit a friend from high school who's having a late Mardi Gras party and then I'm going to eat lots and lots and lots of good food and then I'm going to sleep on the futon and then on Sunday I'm getting up and going with said friend to her Unitarian church and then we're going to lunch and then I'm driving back to Boston and then I'm going to make dinner and fall over.

I'll count it as a success if I manage to stay awake for all the parts I'm supposed to stay awake for, and if nobody cries.
