spend the money? [More:] i mean i never do so--
what should i spend it on?
think in the 3 figure range of toys and tools:
what would you blow a hundred something on because you deserve it, dammit?
what should i?

someone else do the thinking for a while
i hear those hand tooled midget pickles are sweet
Well, what you you use?
posted by trondant 21 March | 00:25
What would you use, rather?
posted by trondant 21 March | 00:27
toy toy?
soft ware
hard ware
death ray
blow torch? now they are cheap.
same with a stick.
i know i'm getting a good stick somehow somewhere.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:27
i could decide to replace every bad battery i know but that's not much fun.
not like, say, a soldering iron
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:30
i know i have, but

daamn it trondant, now look what you did
we have the dropsies.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:31
ok, who's playing eddie money?
take me home tonight
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:34
I find thie 'ethylene' creature to be most interesting.
posted by puke & cry 21 March | 00:41
but can i buy the all encompassing illusion of love for under $127.95?
$399?
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:45
mind you, it only has to enthrall me for three days or so
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:46
100? you could get an ipod shuffle, or a bunch of books and music, or paint and canvas, or paper and pastels, etc, or ...

(i'd save it towards a trip somewhere)
posted by amberglow 21 March | 00:47
now it has to have some immediate satisfaction as well as long term use

yeah, travel
i'd do it hobo style
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:48
let's call it "might as well be drug money"

because having to buy stuff and then just getting $100 of cords and crap is just not worth it, even with good pictures.
it's just debt, right?
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:53
I'd prolly blow it on music and/or wine. You could get a boxed set or two, if you felt so inclined, or a case of decent-yet-not-extravagnet wine. But I'm stupid that way.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 00:54
you must pardon me, the internet has been looking at me like i'm Robert Downey jr and it makes me feel a little too "80's"

some good booze or somethign is earmarked for sure.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 00:56
Books are always good, too. Maybe get a couple of good CDs, a decent hardback (or two, if you buy 'em used), and a half-case of wine. Sounds like a good weekend to me, but I've got funky standards.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 01:02
Books take up space, though. Big space problems.
Maybe I'll find four perfect steamer trunks and never have to pack again.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 01:08
Yeah, but when you get too many books (if such a thing is possible) you can make furniture out of them.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 01:12
i'd rather have stuff that's more flame retardant or usefully disposable

like fire
or gas
downplayments on real estate are out of the question.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 01:25
Yeah, I think that'd be a little more than $127.95 - although they say the bubble is about to burst.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 01:37
did someone burst your bubble yet?
people seem so popped off lately.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 02:00
I have a bad habit of bursting my own bubbles. Most of mine are still afloat at the moment. Can't speak for anyone else, of course.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 02:03
tiny bubbles?
posted by ethylene 21 March | 02:05
In the wine
Make me happy
Make me feel fine

Everybody, SING!

3 boxes of chargers, 24 count each. Balloons.

Satchel, to taste. Low, mid or other.

Fine vodka Martini fixin's and glasses, if needed.
Vermouth olives if possible.

A truly warped CD, to taste - be it Zappa or Zepplin or Coil or Laswell or other. And a decent but cheap pair of full sized headphones, if needed.

A mostly quiet night alone or with someone low stress and independent, inspecting the various intricacies of the inside of one's own eyelids. Or the various intricacies and crenulations of the other.

If none of the above, a big ass new hard drive at a nice price without a stupid rebate.

i'm balancing a logical, necessary expenditure with an equal amount of potentially fun and/or useful thing, for fun.

of course, my idea of fun is
not usual.

so if say $150 goes to machine corpse
then at least as much to the fun stuff.
i never get fun stuff.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 02:26
These are pretty cool.
posted by bmarkey 21 March | 02:28
A little too much pure fun. i'd end up going with the flax squid whisk if i did that.

A crap (or uncrap) guitar is a bit extravagant, but maybe audio toys are not.

or maybe just totally ditching everything and getting luggage and a ticket.
hmm.
*contemplating mobility*

well, i know i can't "move" move, much less move much, for at least a few weeks at best.

a good multiuse garment might be good.
but i have these mannequin forms now. I could get a sewing machine.
It kind of looks sweatshoppy already--
posted by ethylene 21 March | 02:34
spend it here.
posted by muddgirl 21 March | 02:53
amazon's always been trying to rip me off
i hated their eventual current ubiquity
and they owe me $100
bastards

what is the deal with that anyway?
ya guys got all clubby on me

did i miss art and music things?
because i need ram and crap first.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 02:57
I like audio toys. A decent little mini-mixer like a Beringer might be in that price range, and maybe some cables and adapters. Good for making/mixing music alongside a 'puter and other audio sources. Good for podcasts and netradio broadcasts, too.

More RAM and a decent audio card with real multichannel support is good if you have none. I picked up a turtle beach riveria for ~30 USD and am as pleased as punch with it. Super low noise, super clear sound and digital-analog-conversion.

Really, really nice headphones can be had for ~100 USD. Good headphones are unbounded joy. So much more detail.

interesting

could i get a giant silicon dance pad as a keyboard?
So i could jump on it?

which one kills clowns better?
sadly, both fall far too improbable.
what repels full time mimes?
posted by ethylene 21 March | 08:36
Just wait, in the end i'm just going to buy long planks of wood and make walkways over my existing crap.
And then let people's cats to hang out there for a small donation.

or something painfully practical on the overpass of least resistance.

A long wool coat. A large wooden cutting board. A very sharp kitchen knife.
posted by Divine_Wino 21 March | 09:23
taken care of well enough for now

oh, it'll be booze, drugs and storage items. who am i kidding.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 09:28
screw that noise.
i'm gonna rent a flocker and flock someone's house in hot pink.
any one of you.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 09:31
*wants a hot pink flocked house, really badly*
posted by matildaben 21 March | 10:06
enough to pay cost of materials and travel fees?
i'd pay to see it.
now i have to see where you live.
posted by ethylene 21 March | 10:08
we'd have to keep it disguised for the big reveal to the neighbors.
We'll say i'm power cleaning/alien proofing it or something.
*hopes for a town house or a porch*
