20 March 2006

You know you're spending too much time on MeCha when ... [More:]... you're playing Bookworm and you wonder why it keeps rejecting "amro", "gaspode", "orthogonality", "fenriq", etc. as not real words.

Hahaha. I had a dream last night that I saw a guy on the train and thought, That looks like amberglow. So I looked at him and smiled... but it wasn't amberglow.

Hehehe. My wife gets tired of me starting each conversation with "So I was reading on MetaFilter/MetaChat...."

Is Bookworm like TextTwist?

"Oh, I'm tired of always being a Marionettescreen name!" cried Pinocchioamro, disgusted. "It's about time for me to grow as everyone else does. I want to be a real personword rather than a wooden boymade-up name."

"And you will if you deserve it--"

"Really?" Pinocchioamro exclaimed. "Tell me, what can I do to deserve it?"

"First one must act like a well-behaved child."

Oh. Nevermind.

orthogonality is a real word.

No, it's like Scrabble. I play the Deluxe version, and my best score is over 13 million (with the Deluxe game you can close it and resume it later, with the online one, you lose the game when you close the browser).

orthogonality is a real word.

It's not in the Bookworm's dictionary, the fucker. That would've been a big word score too, bastard.

Also, the online version doesn't allow words over a certain length. I was beyond proud of myself when I came up with julienne (including at least one gold and one green tile), but the online version wouldn't take it. The fucker.

BOOKWORM SPOILERS

In BookWorm, don't you just let the tiles that the flaming tiles can't burn through (the bonus tiles?) sit at the bottom, just blocking up the game and giving you as much time as you need? That was my strategy last time I was hooked on BookWorm. (It's REALLY addictive.)

Bookworm is ruining my life. I curse the day that I discovered bookworm. I spend hours and hours playing it until my eyes blur and when I go to bed at night I see little tiles cascading by my head. Is anyone else childishly disappointed when cuss words aren't accepted by bookworm? I hate it that pee is a word and shit isn't. They won't take quim either, or poo.

What a good fun game. I could get sucked in easily, I hope they don't have a version for Palm.

Nope, thank goodness

My version used to allow dirty words, but then I was invited to upgrade, and now it won't allow them. The fucker.

My top tip: there's a bonus word where if you make that word, you get extra points. Don't make the word if you can help it, because it results in you getting more burning tiles.

Weird - I've been getting up the past couple of days with a random username or two bouncing around in my head. Nobody obvious, either, so it's a little disconcerting as to why those names pop up.

Indeed you may, nomis.

ooga_booga, I think it's the tinfoil hat influence.

But of course, I should be wearing mine! Thanks, m-bean! You've saved me from the rays!

After hours of playing, I have just learned the 'anal' IS an acceptable word (280 points).
