Lola: Eat a clove or three of raw, fresh garlic. Garlic has natural anti-biotic and anti-inflammation properties, and it'll also temporarily reduce your blood pressure, which will relieve some of the pain.
And it pretty much has to be raw. Cooked or pill garlic doesn't do it.
But you can wash it down with a few bites of cheese, which is just about the only thing I've found that effectively neutralizes the sting of the garlic.
I have hideously bad "surfer's ear", perforated eardrums, constantly clogged tubes, etc, and get ear infections a few times a year. Garlic is my best friend. Besides, it's good for you, and doesn't seem to kill off your natural GI flora like antibiotics do.
Sure, you might smell funny for a while, but you'll feel great.
Damndamndamn! If I had a spare grand just burning a hole in my pocket, I would be jumping on plane to join you guys in a heartbeat. I confess envy, but have a great time and raise one for me will you?
And everyone give jmc and Lola a big old round of bunny hugs, 'k?
