Cool photos, I think... but wtf? What's going on here? First of all, I think the nasty page view in FF is just a mistake (at least in my version of FF you'll have to scroll right to see the images; it looks okay in IE) ...but then what's the story? They are posted with no explanation, but I'm kind of fascinated. Have you seen these sorts of images elsewhere (perhaps somewhere that talks a bit about the process)?

Super fisheye pointed at the ground, or one of those hyperbolic cone reflection lenses used for panaroma or Quicktime VR shots.

Suspension rig, kite or balloon for the mount, or tripod/monopod or cantilever with digital compositing if not.

I keep looking for the little prince.

Huh. I was almost close... I did search for "extreme fisheye". I'd love to see more like these.

The name seems familiar from a decade ago.
I think it's just existed in some form the whole time. This is what happens to a slow site sell out.

There use to be such cool tiling work and free images way back when that you'd never find again--
--that's why those first crashes were so crushing--

wow.
the internet's all old now.

Number two is now my desktop.

Works fine for me, taz (Firefox 1.5.0.1, WinXP).
