Bio-Oil. The United States can grow enough fresh biomass--more than a billion tons each year--to supplant at least a third of its annual petroleum use...
I didn't see that article address the need for petroleum-based pesticides in growing this biomass. As far as I've heard, you're still losing energy in creating bio-fuels due to the petrochemicals necessary for modern large-scale agriculture.

But eideteker, those pesticides can be paid for with farm subsidies, which are a limitless resource. A Limitless Resource

Not if the bio-mass is just a bi-product of current agriculture, like corn husks.

Heck, switch to corn-ohol and use the husks as well, putting some farmers back in business and lowering the fuel cost even more.

Nah. Bush and Cheney need to give more contracts to their buddies, make some cash on the side, wage some more wars and destroy more of the Earth.

Why would we want more farmers back in business?

Farmers are pious, so having more will help win back God's favor.
