An Intarnets Challenge Inspiration! I've got a challenge for anyone willing to break out of the rut.→[More:]The challenge is deceptively simple but maybe its also realistically simple. Choose a day and do not go to any website that you've ever been to before. No CNN, no MeFi, all of it.

I haven't quite figured out the reason for doing it aside from being an exercise but sometimes that's all the reason you need.

There could be an exception and one previous website could be allowed (hey, maybe MeCha?) but only so that the wanderers could have a homebase to report in from their travels and to help redirect others outward.

Any takers?

I'd give it a try, but I would have to be able to go to say, Google or Yahoo in order to figure out where the hell else to go. It sounds lonely.

I've done it before. There's a strange disconnect when I returned to my on-line haunts but it doesn't last long.

I sort of do that sometimes, where i start at a site with a good blogroll, and just pick one i've never been to, then from that one pick another i've never been to, etc...

omiewise, nope, you'd have to use one of the off-brand search sites! Unless you've never been to Google or Yahoo, of course.

I occasionally find big chunks of chocolate chip cookies in my rut. If I abandon it, no cookies.

I may not be getting it. Is the point to just shake yourself up? Probably 90% of what you find will be of marginal interest or utility and you'll be bored. Is the object to find some gold among the dross and bring it back here?

dhartung, some of both really. Call it a hunting expedition or a fresh start or just an exercise. I've found my rut to be quite well worn lately and just felt like seeing if I could organize a breakout.
