Movie Night? I feel pretty blah right now. I'm thinking about getting junkfood and renting a few movies, either for tonight or for tomorrow.→[More:]

Any recommendations for stuff either of my local Hollywood Videos should have?

I'm thinking of something goofy that I've wanted to see for a while, like Constantine. Not necessarily a really good mindblowing movie or something uplifting. Something with a unique or different premise might be nice (never saw Adaptation, either). Something that was just "interesting" or a good B-movie (or whatever you'd call Constantine).

So what "hidden classics" can you recommend that are popular enough to be at my local rental place and yet unpopular enough to be available? (No foreign language; I'm not in the mood to squint at subtitles tonight).

Please be thoughtful and try to make all your suggestions in one comment, or I fear I'll never be able to wade through them all (the quote thread was fun but exhausting!). Otherwise, go wild! Inventiveness is appreciated!

If they have it, I recommend The American Astronaut. I think it's/was on the shelves here, but the Billy Nayer Show used to be a local outfit, so YMMV.

I actually liked Constantine. Not saying it was a great movie - just that I liked it.

My boyfriend loved Constantine. I wouldn't watch it, though. I read Hellblazer for years and just couldn't go through with it. Keanu Reeves? Jesus...

Just saw Secretary the other day, which was, um... good.

(and by good I mean way way hot and, I will never be able to watch Boston Legal the same way again...)

(You too Kelly? My roommate loaned it too me and warned me before hand that it was "kinda disturbing". But I disagreed. Ahem)

And as far as films go for Eid, hmm...

Check the "family" section and see if they have any dvds of Batman:The Animated Series, or the movie Mask of the Phantasim. Highly recommended.

See if your place has any MST3K dvds or videos lurking about too.

The Dish? It is, actually, uplifting, but it's awfully good, and flew under the radar for a lot of people.

Have you seen Sin City? FanTAStic!

Very different, but awesome nonetheless, is Grizzly Man. The fact that it wasn't even nominated for Best Documentary is criminal.

I also really loved The Matador -- I don't think it's out yet on DVD, but keep it in mind down the road. Pierce Brosnan also got robbed for not getting at least a nod by the Academy. (Really! He's that good!)

I got Constantine, Billy Jack, Hell Comes to Frogtown, and They Live! They had The Dish, but not the American Astronaut. Those two sounded like a good double feature, so maybe another time? I've got enough movies for the weekend now, though.
