15 March 2006

Radio Mecha v.1979 this afternoon from 4:30 - 7:30 PM Central time. With your host, WolfDaddy.[More:]All the songs of the year you probably were too stoned to remember--I know I'd forgotten "The Main Event" by Barbra Streisand--mixed for your pleasure.

*extra, extra, i'm in love, i've got to thank the lucky stars above, hurry hurry don't be late..* ; >

It's probably a good thing that I don't know the playlist in advance. I'll be there anyway. Embarassingly, I cried over the Streisand song from the 1977 set ("love, ageless and evergreen.." or whatever) but I claim freaky hormone day as an excuse. If I cry again, someone could get hurt.

heehee, wens! A couple of wolfdaddy's sets shook me pretty much, too... so much sweet, bittersweet, bitter, sweet nostalgia.

Mister daddy, you have to do a bunch of re-broadcastings of these, really-really.

yeah, rebroadcasts, definitely. I missed 1978 (well, I lived through it in real life somehow), and just joined up here recently and missed all the good early 70's stuff.

Well, maybe. I started this project to sample popular music from the 40 (almost 41) years I've been around ... 1965 through 2005. I might repeat stuff after I get current, but it'll be awhile. But then, everything old is new again and maybe by that time I'll have figured out how to use a radio voice and broadcast my voice live inbetween songs like a real radio station.

And taz, dear, looks like Radio 1980 or 1981 will be your weekend set so e-mail me if you have any special requests from either of those years that you'd like to hear.

(I'm playing a late night (for me) Radio Mecha Saturday night so taz on the other side of the world will have some music to listen to, aren't I just the SWEETEST little wolf??)

I'm going to do Eides of March III after you, WD. Not too long a set. I've been missing out on sleep a lot lately.

one of my afterschool jobs was sending telexes to Chile--with the dotted paper ribbon and everything.

(the machine looked like this--i would type the messages, they'd get printed as this stuff, then i'd dial the number and feed that thru the machine--thru 10th and 11th grades, everyday afterschool) I thought it was cool, but it's so archaic nowadays

And amber Off The Wall was '79, but included in '80 chart-wise, at least for me and my memory...I remember "Off the Wall" and "Another Brick in the Wall" being played back to back on my local bowling alley's jukebox. Which was weird, but it worked.
