I got me them Inept Co-Worker Blues.... [More:]
So, you go and work a trade show you were dreading, and what do you get as a reward when you get back? Why, the opportunity to fix everyone else's screw-ups that happened during your absence. Not even the ones that resulted from them trying to cover your position, no, rather the ones they are responsible for in the first place and can't handle.

THIS PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SHOUTING THREAD!

Anyway, them's my Inept Co-Worker Blues, what are yours?
I got those "I think it's ok to check my voice mail on speaker phone, ok to phone my insurance company and listen to their hold music for half an hour on speaker phone, ok to let my wife put my 3 yr old son on to babble for a while on speaker phone co-worker blues"

I have the "the lab-tech in my lab is a special kind of retard and can't seem to get anything done or put things that say freeze upon arrival away without letting them sit on the bench for at least 3 hours even though she's been working here for 9 years(!!!)"

I really don't think she's a very good worker (note: I'm a grad student and by definition allowed to screw the pooch - she is a paid employee and is therefore not allowed)

You don't work with dogs, do you, lunaticfringe?

I only screw people :P

I work in a Cancer Research Lab with human cells in dishes. No animals...

f*ck the dog is a not-so-nice way of saying "goofing off" but everyone knows that right? Otherwise I look perverted...

Yeah, I was just leaping at an opportunity for a Goofy joke.

Thank God, I was scared for a minute.

There are people in my building that do work on dogs though...

I thought "s***w the pooch" meant "to f*ck up royally". Maybe this is another US/UK thing?

We've always used it to mean the goofing thing but we could be wrong.

Here's a picture of efficiency: the boss is out of town on a job site, the "consultant" who is supposedly managing the office is "working" from a city 3 hours away, the partner on the way out is grumbling alone as usual, I'm working from home, but needed a hardcopy from my desk, and Lulu the KnowZilch who is supposed to be drafting (that's how we get paid)is sweeping leaves off the roof so she can meet with the local newspaper about a building she has barely worked in for 2 months. [the building is green, and the plants on the roof are dormant. which=a nice brown.] I left.

Fellow Canadian, but on the other side of the continent. Screwing the Pooch = messing up royally.

As for goofing off/not working, I call it metachat/metafilter.

/reformed (Total)Fark addict, I've been clean for... neigh upon a year.
