UpdateFilter (for those interested in the misadventures of schyler523)→[More:]I am simultaneously falling in love with someone and out of live with someone else...

The new girl is better in everyway, but she know my past and my old gf(because we were old confidantes...before becoming lovers.) I am flying back to LA the day after my birthday, to get stuff i left there and help the ex move to STL...

To me this trip means closure...to the new girl, it is the scariest week and a half ever(she's been jilted by her past two lovers for exes) despite my promises...

I've chosen the new girl...and i've told her as much, but there is only so much i expect her to believe....

On a personal note...i am drinking less and have quit the cigarettes since new years...i like my job and my lover and am relatively happy...i wish i could spend more time online, but alas....i cannot.

Also, i really like Roxy Music's self titled album....and isobel campbell's (from Belle and Sebastian) first solo work is pretty rad!

Twenty years; I got lucky while listening to that particular album back in the day, not long after it came out. Don't make me any older than you have to.

Schyler: sounds like things are going well. Your new friend is just gonna have to learn to trust you - which she's gonna have to do anyway, if you two are gonna be together. Call her a couple of time while you're away, just to reassure her.

Oh, and Avavlon aside, the first three Roxy Music albums are the only ones worthwhile.

I've been in this situation. When you're out there make sure you make time to buy her a gift. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive but it should be something that's personal, that only she'd like (or in other words, something you'd get for any old girlfriend like flowers or chocs aint going to cut it). It shows you've been thinking of her while you've been away.

Yeah, tell the old gf that you've chosen the new gf, too, that helps to set boundaries.
