Do you celebrate your pets' birthdays? I'm just curious. No particular reason for asking, really.→[More:]
And it's a complete
coincidence that I'm asking this on Barney's 10th birthday. : )
Sort of. All my pets are rescues and I don't know their birthdays, so I just pick a day in the summer and give them all presents. And make Sam wear a hat.
No. I love both our pets (although the cat is on my shitlist after killing my favorite wren), but I draw the line at birthdays. It's bad enough that they both have xmas stockings.
I used to, with my other three because I had birth certificates for two of them (made by the girl who owned the mother cat), so we would celebrate on 5 August, along with my third cat, who was a rescue boy.

The only birds my cats have ever caught (to my knowledge) are a wren and a spotted woodpecker. Both rare birds, when there are thousands of starlings, pigeons, etc. (yeah, yeah, I know, their lives are just as precious to them).
They were scared of the pheasant, though. I think a fox has had him now, not seen him for a while.
I'll have a beer on my cat's birthday, if not every year, every other year.
I was startled, yet pleased, the first time he left me a bird's head on the back doorstep with nothing else accompanying the bird. He took down this bird while wearing a bell!
