Wow! I grew up going to the model railroad at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and then they took it away ... only to have it come back five times as awesome.
This is really fascinating to me. All my male relatives (except for my brother) worked in the Gary mills at some point. If it weren't for US Steel, I wouldn't be here.
My dad worked on the trains in the steel mills. When he retired a co-worker made a replica of the train he worked on. I will have to take a picture of it one of these days.
