According to a scientific poll conducted in seedy bars in the northeastern United States, these are the best power ballads of all time:

Aerosmith - Angel
Extreme - More Than Words
Journey - Faithfully
Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn (yes, it's a horrible rock song, but (admit it) it's a great country weeper with a guitar solo)

and I'm in a power ballad kinda mood. *sniff*

Extreme had moments of genius and moments of shlock. MTW was kind of splitting the difference.

Oh, maybe a bit. I really did like Extreme in their brief, bright moment before Nuno went completely, incomprehensibly insane.

In trade I offer you a Gutter Ballet video if you're patient (it's worth it, might remind you of that Axe song you posted here once); or Strange Wings if you just want a fast download & a good power ballad.

My favorite 80's power ballad (Queensrÿche's "Silent Lucidity").

And a few more modern interpretations of the subgenre.
