I keep coming back, even though I know you're only going to hurt me again. Movies based on Alan Moore comic books have, as a rule, sucked hairy smelly donkey balls... and what's [More:], Moore himself has publically criticized and distanced himself from the script for the upcoming V For Vendetta movie.

And yet... the trailer looks so good, and the poster campaign is so fucking cool!

I really want this movie not to suck, if only so that I can hang one of those posters with pride.

What's to be done?
I think it will be better than the Matrix sequels, but not great. Early word is that the movie plays well to nerds and geeks, and less well to mainstream audiences.

This according to the fat fanboys at aintitcool.com.

I'm pretty excited and I hope it's not a let down. I was dissapointed when they didn't have it ready for the 5th of November.

After the cinematic train wreck that was League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, this can only look good. Which is not to say that it won't suck, it just can't suck more.

Hellboy! Hellboy! Hellboy!

[c.b.g]Hellboy was Mike Mignola, not Alan Moore[/c.b.g.]

I'm hoping it will be good, but I doubt it will be. Those posters are really cool though.

The Brothers Wachowski can do no wrong in my eyes.

I chose to interpert that as sarcasm

The politics and timing are quite interesting. I'm not certain that I would consider Moore's work sacrosanct -- I was pretty sanguine about (most of) the changes Jackson made to LOTR, a work in which I have much more emotional history invested.

I will be surprised if the movie lives up to its revolutionary sloganeering, given the financial backing.

Exactly how many movies has Alan Moore now officialy dis-owned?

Whatever that guy's name was that directed LXG can go to hell. He's the reason I have to painstakingly explain to people why reading the comic would NOT be a waste of their time.

Talk about messing your IP up.

And I will not be seeing this in the theater... after Matrix Revolutions, those guys owe me eight bucks and two hours. And to think my most-lent tape was once Bound...

I've just (last night) read the LXG comics, books 1 and 2 for the first time. A bazillion times better than the movie. Yet...I don't know. They were okay, but maybe just not my thing. The last comic I read religiously was Sandman.
