I need somebunnies to enter my my Oscar contest. And to chat about the Oscars.
Yay! I did this last year, it was a lot of fun. I'll fill it out later. Thanks!

Let me mull my pics, then I'm all over it. I have to mull extra hard because I haven't seen any of the nominees this year. But Oscar predictions are more about getting in the head of the Academy than the quality of the movies, so my ignorance shouldn't matter a bit.

Hrm. Good question. I suppose if a furriner wins, we could work something out.

done and done. I didn't really like Good Night, And Good Luck very much as a film, but it looked nice so I suppose it has to win a few things.

Why didn't Grizzly Man get a best-feature-documentary nomination?
posted by box 22 February | 11:13
The Documentary Feature category has a long history of screwing up, and this is just their latest bungle. In 1994 the nominating committee supposedly walked out of Hoop Dreams and of course didn't nominate it; in 1991 they failed to nominate Hearts of Darkness; last year they didn't nominate The Corporation, Tarnation, or Control Room; and this year Grizzly Man didn't even make their shortlist. I'd put on my tinfoil hat and say they have an agenda, but I'm not sure what it would be, except to screw up a lot.
