And today's big loser is Obvious Fucking Sock (Puppet Account) with a grand total of 0 shoutouts!

(also, could matildaben and speck possibly be any hotter? I don't see how)

I do, but involves the both of them, some Jell-o, and an inflatable swimming pool.

DUCT TAPE SHOUTOUT!! Specklet, I love you...teehee. That's like, the bestest shoutout ever.

And another one from someone else who is hot (besides matildaben and of course Specklet, I mean)...mudpuppie? Is that the mud'? Thank you whoever you are ;)

And who are all the other people?
posted by iconomy 20 February | 09:09
Names, we need names, people. : )

Looks like it was a blast. And I got a shoutout! Thanks mudpuppie! : )

I wrote a shoutout for OFS. I guess it just hasn't been posted yet.

Here are my photos.

That looks like a GREAT time! :D I think I spotted LipstickThespian in a non-hiding photo, this time around.

Criminey, are those 1-gallon beers in this photo?
posted by BoringPostcards 20 February | 10:37
Looks like an excellent time! And thanks for the shout-out Speck, made my day!
posted by tr33hggr 20 February | 10:40
We got some great pictures of Lipstick, which makes up for the lack of good pictures of him heretofore.

And where's the hawtness appreciation for ramix, the golden goddess of African cuisine, people?
posted by matildaben 20 February | 10:41
Thanks Mudpuppie!

Criminy, there were a lot of you there!

posted by Mrs.Pants 20 February | 10:52
Wow. That was a large, well documented meetup.
posted by kmellis 20 February | 10:55
Thanks for a great night, everyone. It was too bad I had to leave after a couple of hours.... See you all next time around.

Woo woo, thanks for the shoutouts, guys! I feel so loved :-D

Who does a guy have to fuck to get a shoutout around here?

*at least two of my sockpuppets got a shoutout*
posted by It's Raining Florence Henderson 20 February | 11:13
Not getting a shoutout bothers me more that it bothers me than it bothers me.
posted by kmellis 20 February | 11:18
It was lots of fun. And where's the hawtness appreciation for all of the MeCha men, people?
posted by cmonkey 20 February | 11:27
kmellis, I know Lipstick shouted you out - it must be in someone's shots that haven't been posted yet.

So far there are no pictures of me in any incriminating poses with anyone else. I guess the people that took them are hoarding them for blackmail.
posted by matildaben 20 February | 11:36
Finding that I'm relieved that I got a shoutout bothers me that it relieves me more than it relieves me.
posted by kmellis 20 February | 11:39
Jimmy The Mothafuckin' Saint! All right. Also pi and thes look completely different from what I thought.
posted by jonmc 20 February | 11:45
HOW could so much beauty, style, and hipness exist in one location without causing some sort of tavern implosion? It's impossible, yet I have seen it!

Seriously, y'all look absolutely wonderful.

And where's the hawtness appreciation for all of the MeCha men, people?

Right here, baby. Right here.

A very fine presentation you all make. Thanks for the pics! Portland, ME, doesn't stand a chance.

posted by Miko 20 February | 12:10
Ooh, almost forgot -- thanks for the shoutouts (they're my very first evar!). I feel like a real bunny now.
posted by Miko 20 February | 12:13
so jonmc, what did you expect? I know I visualize people kind of strangely. Like Daniel Schor on NPR: in my mind he is a basset hound.

Also for those of you who were hanging out at Squeeze at the end of the night, I got my coat back! w00t! Turns out Matildaben put it on thinking it was hers.

She figured it out when the cell phone in the pocket rang the next morning and it was my mom on the phone.
posted by pieisexactlythree 20 February | 12:13
The food (and all you Portland me__ites) looked great!

(ramix - that's a sweet pad you've got there)

posted by pieisexactlythree 20 February | 12:21
pi, I heard you were really pissed off about the coat thing. I'm glad you'd mellowed out by the time I saw you the next morning.

P.S. Pi's mom is Australian! She is very sweet.
posted by matildaben 20 February | 12:24
You all look amazing, and like you had a great time. Thanks for the shoutouts, too! LT, I love your hat.

New York really has to document their meetups better.
posted by gaspode 20 February | 12:27
'tilda, if you took pi's coat, where is your coat?
posted by Frisbee Girl 20 February | 12:32
matildaben, my roommate can only speak in hyperbole. Think nothing of it. the way he describes things its all OMFG all the time.

Frisbee Girl,

I had it. It being really cold out, I took the last unaccounted for coat, on the (correct) assumption that it belonged to the wearer of my coat.
posted by pieisexactlythree 20 February | 12:35
Gotcha, excellent!
posted by Frisbee Girl 20 February | 12:43
so jonmc, what did you expect?

I dunno, geekier, I guess (annd I mean that in a good way).
posted by jonmc 20 February | 12:50
Pi, it was the people who were at the bar with you that night who told me how pissed off you were, not your roomie.

And jon, pi is a geek on the inside, he just doesn't dress like one.
posted by matildaben 20 February | 12:53
Oh, I'm sure. And I pictured thes looking like my cubie Colin for some reason.
posted by jonmc 20 February | 12:58
black?
posted by matildaben 20 February | 13:02
matildaben, I thought somebody actually maliciously stole it. That got me more into the mindset of, oh shit, now I have to cancel my credit cards and cell phone, etc. While not common, one does ocassionally run into tweakers and dealers in that neighborhood, and they have a penchant for stealing anything that isn't nailed down. Witness the puddles of smashed auto glass all along the sidewalks. If I was mad, it was at the imagined drug dealer who was using my phone to hook up his next shipment, not some hapless bunny.
posted by pieisexactlythree 20 February | 13:09
Specklet said she had the "someone took your coat by accident because they look similar and folks are drunk" theory all along. That's usually what it is.

Anyway, this was the best rolling meetup ever. It started at Speck's for breakfast, went to Ramix's for dinner, then to the Lucky Lab, then to Squeez, then folks went to bed at some point, then Speck and Pupps and Lipstick and Triode and I had brunch the next morning.

We have this idea for an All North America and Europe Metachat meetup (involving pajamas and videoconferencing); it requires getting a grant for everyone's travel, but Specklet and Mupps have a plan.
posted by matildaben 20 February | 13:20
I dunno, geekier, I guess (annd I mean that in a good way).
Maybe I should have worn the t-shirt I picked up last week.

You are all such a gorgeous bunch. In my next life I am totally going to live somewhere they have actual other mechazens besides just me & Moonbird.
posted by mygothlaundry 20 February | 13:21
I got shoutouts! Woo-hoo! Thanks pupps and ramix.

And Triode looks like the dude from Queens of the Stone Age. Who'd a thunk it.

Yay Internet validation! Thank you for the shoutouts. I guess that means I really have to post more, now.

When NYC & Portland meet, there will be an explosion of hotness that will consume everything in it's path.

posted by taz 20 February | 14:51
You'll learn to love it, dersins. Most of the people here are perfectly nice and intelligent.
posted by cmonkey 20 February | 15:09
Yeah, the only pile-ons around here involve bunnies and kittens, and sometimes puppies.
posted by pieisexactlythree 20 February | 15:18
Not enough puppies if you ask me...

*grumble*
posted by cmonkey 20 February | 15:20
Wow. That was a large, well documented meetup.

It was difficult to get pictures of people for all the cameras being peered through.

But...but...I *like* the pile-ons...

And where's the hawtness appreciation for ramix, the golden goddess of African cuisine, people?

All my photos of the lovely and wonderful Ramix turned out blurry! WAAaaaahh! *pouts*
posted by Triode 20 February | 16:03
Seriously, this sounds (to me, anyway) like the very best meetup ever. But having many people travel to Portland meant self-selection of people highly motivated to have fun and wanting to be there. I'd so love to be able to participate in something like that. Just not enough people around here, though.

So many good-looking people, it's impractical to list everyone of you! But, wowza!
posted by kmellis 20 February | 16:51
Where are mudpuppie's pictures? I know she's still at Specklet's, but I hope she can upload them from there.

*sighs*

are we going to have to come over to the NW to settle this once and for all?
posted by gaspode 20 February | 16:56
Oh yes, please do!
posted by matildaben 20 February | 16:59
But you have to detour through Georgia again and take me with you, gaspode.
posted by BoringPostcards 20 February | 17:04
So long as you stop off in Asheville along the way.

See, Specklet and Mupps, we do need to have the All-Mecha International Meetup.
posted by matildaben 20 February | 17:17
Let's have that meetup in Amsterdam.

It'll be more meetuperific that way.
posted by cmonkey 20 February | 17:22
SassHat, I'm going to have a "meet-up" tonight where I'll give you a "shout-out."

And that meetup will be in my dreams! Everyone's invited.

OK, it's safe to take your minds back out of the gutter now.

You were both referencing Rush (albeit indirectly), though I don't know if you knew that. Either way, it made my day.

Awesome, everyone, awesome. Massive thanks to Specklet and Ramix for hosting (especially RAMIX - poor girl got left with inebriated, smoke-charred LT for the night, and NOT IN A GOOD WAY.)

Great weekend, though. I'm paying the price now. *sniffle, hack, cough* Ah, memories...

Where are mudpuppie's pictures? I know she's still at Specklet's, but I hope she can upload them from there.

My connection speed at home is too slow to upload pics. Pup will have to wait until she gets home (tomorrow) and I'll have to wait until I can make some time at work to do it. There's lots more on the way.

This really was such an amazingly fun meet up. We even had a nap time!

OK, so someone at the meetup convinced me to stop hating on metachat and give it a chance. Of course, I can't remember precisely who that person is, but still, here I am.

I'm pretty sure that was me, and I'm pretty sure I said something like "Get the fuck to Metachat, asshole. People are real nice there."

So the introduction, it's not as dubious as it may have seemed at first glance.

I have lots of pics to upload, but as Specklet said, it'll probably have to wait until tomorrow.

Also, hi everybody!
