chatter about topics that may not belong on MetaFilter. Questions? Check the FAQ. Please note: This is important.
Adam laughed. "I know we've put Buster the Dummy into some crazy situations before, but using him to measure the electrostatic discharge of banging a cat has to be the coup de gras!"
Jamie concurred. "This is pretty odd."
It was at that point the network executives arrived. "Cut the lights", they ordered. "There's no way we're showing any of this on television!"
Ruefully, Adam turned to Jamie. "Am, man - now we'll never know if that AskMetaFilter question was for real or not."
Just then, a young female voice chimed in: "Of course it was a fake. It was deliberately posted online to get your attention."
The Mythbusters and media bigwigs turned to face the adolescent girl who furiously pedalled her bicycle toward them.
"If it was a setup, who would've done it?" queried Adam.
At that point, a glimmer of recognition appeared in Jamie's face. With perfect timing, he blurted out the answer just as the yound lady responded in turn:
"Bugs Meany!"
Bugs Meany was the leader of a neighborhood gang of tough older boys. They called themselves the Tigers. The Tigers' clubhouse was an unused tool shed behind Mr. Sweeny's Auto Body Shop. When the Mythbusters arrived, with Sally Kimball and the Discovery Channel executives in tow, they noticed the interior of the Tigers' clubhouse had changed. Upon the back wall humg an old bedsheet which bore the word "TIGERS" in bold red paint. But this time, the name "TIGERS" had been crossed out, and "HOAXERS" had been written instead...
That was, quite simply, the best thing anyone has ever written, Smart Dalek. Civilization has peaked, and can now begin the inevitable decline. Bring on the talking apes!
