A poor little bunny is the one animal I ever killed with a car. I was in high school, and I was driving a friend home on those narrow, bumpy Texas back roads. A little bunny hopped onto the road, and my friend and I said "Oh look, a bunny!" I slowed down, it turned around and headed back towards the grass. As I moved passed it, it darted into the road again. Kerthump!

After a few seconds of stunned silence, I asked my friend, "Do you think I hit it?" She just stared at me.

To this day, the phrase "Oh look, a bunny!" makes us both giggle.

Driving through middle-of-nowhere NZ with mr. 'pode at 4 in the morning, we kept count of all the animals we hit. Something like 12 possums, 5 rabbits and a couple of hedgehogs. Bunnies are the worst because as pup said they run back in front of you (doing the whole darting around to escape predation thing I suppose) so you think you've missed it and then it just runs under your wheels.
