Damn. Sucks to be a Polynesian Mormon today.

LDS is so interesting in part because it's so similarly constructed to older religions, yet so new, and thus so vulnerable to the modern age of science. These same kind of contradictions are either merely curious or irrelevant to older faiths.

You get the feeling, though, that LDS will eventually find its way to that sense of respectability through seniority. Once we all start worshipping the FSM, anyway.

Some longtime observers believe that ultimately, the vast majority of Mormons will disregard the genetic research as an unworthy distraction from their faith.

Which is ironic, given how much work they've put (directly and indirectly) into furthering geneaology and genetics research.

Mormon America is a pretty good history of the LDS and it's splinter groups.

I didn't know they considered all other Christians in a state of apostasy. Now the way BYU students acted at the Notre Dame/BYU game this year makes more sense.

That takes it! I'm gonna chase the next Mormon I see up a belfry and riddle him with bullets.
