The final four episodes of "Arrested Development" were so awesome, that I find myself hoping that no other network renews the show. Because right now, it's like this perfect, amazing thing. You know?
Last night's "My Name is Earl" was pretty good, too.

I want more too. I am truly sad that it's over. There were so many super-duper brilliant moments in last night's episodes. Franklin's sign on his chest that read, "George Bush doesn't care about black puppets"—oh my.

I watched it with my boyfriend and a roomful of people who'd never seen it before, so we had to stop and explain a lot of things. Also, I was the only person in the room who knows who Justine Bateman is. That was great that she was on there; it reminded me a bit of the last episode of The Bob Newhart Show, where Bob woke up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette at the end of the show.

I really hope that some other network picks it up, but I'm not counting on it.

I kind of agree with the Chef, albeit in regards to futurama. When rumors were spreading on MeFi, I was all OMG more Futurama, but the more I think about it, I realize that it's pretty much perfect as is, and all the plot arcs tied up nicely. Re-starting it would mean having to change character's behavior and motivations to keep it consistent with the original format.

I actually saw this post just before I watched the finale (TiVo'd in the Pacific Time Zone), and I have to agree with you ColdChef. The finale tied up so many of the long-time loose-ended plots AND redefined many of the characters.

Do we really want to see Michael return AGAIN to his disfunctional family; do we want to see the reign of Queen Lucille; do we want to see Lindsay pursue Michael and George Michael pursue Maeby relatively free of incestual taboos? It sounds like it'll take a lot of work to just set up a whole new set of situations of the kind that made this situation comedy so funny. However, I really do want to know what happened to Buster with the seal... now THAT was a cliffhanger.

You know what? You've got me thinking about this so much I'm going to try writing a 1000-word piece you may end up seeing somewhere else. If so, thanks for the inspiration, Chef. If not, just ignore me.
