I'm at my new job!→[More:]
And I've already committed my first illicit act: that's right, by comming to MeCha.
This job effortlessly fell into my lap very soon after I got laid off. I rock.
It's a design position at a well-establish interior design firm. This means I won't have to deal with snooty architects who think all I'm capable of doing is picking out furniture upholstery. And it's a relatively small firm, twelve or thirteen people, which means I'll get to wear a lot of hats and not just be an AutoCAD monkey.
Not that there's anything wrong with bein' a monkey.
I've missed you all very much! I won't be able to play much at work (this is a "real" job), but I now have dial-up on a laptop at home, so I can hang in the evenings.
Awesome, Specklet! Great to hear from you, and since you get to wear a lot of hats at your new job, might I suggest a rakish one? If you need an example I'll furnish one here.
Sounds like the job I'm heading into, Speck! Shipper-receiver at a design consultancy/retail firm, and jack-of-all-trades as I iron out the bugs and offload that SR work on a monkey.
So Specklet, do you get to yammer at your co-workers about X-refs? As a token liberal arts guy at an architecture firm (I do land-use and master planning), I feel so left out...
YAY Speck! And the more distance between yourself and architects, the better! And pie if ya wanna yammer about x-refs I can kick it widja. Land use & master planning sounds better than contract documents and redlines any day. I bet you even get to color!?
Shine on, you Crazy Specklet. I def advise to stay as far away from architects as is humanly possible. They are not of this Earth. (And not in the fun, ET way either).
I myself just finished my (hopefully) last interview for a spot at Matildaben's jobsite.
OMG, I haven't heard about splines since Sim City 2000 (which incidentally, sums up my job). Aw, who am I kidding, I chose my career because of Sim City!
