Ask MeCha. Is there a good free way to batch add invisble digital watermarks to the images I put on my web site (obvious self-link)?
Irfanview seems to be the weapon of choice.

I have no idea but I have a question. What good is invisible watermarking? I had a brief scan of a bunch of your pix and they're ok, but I can't see commercial interests beating down your door if you get my meaning.

So I nab a pic, photoshop or crop out the current copyright marker and use it with or without link attribution. What will an invisible watermark achieve? Is it to let you prove ownership despite the crop or ..?

Not hassling - I'm just quite curious.

Or by invisible, do you mean kind of see-through?

By invisible, I mean something similar to what the Digimarc plugin in Photoshop does.

Is it to let you prove ownership despite the crop or ..?

Yeah, basically.

I can't see commercial interests beating down your door if you get my meaning.

You'd think that. In fact, I would think that. Then I found some of my photos copied and pasted elsewhere on the web.

digimarc, or creating a script/action in photoshop would do it, where everything in a certain folder gets one added to it.

Yeah, but I have to pay for a Digimarc subscription for that, yes?

yeah you have to pay for digimark and basically, that's the only way to do it. If you already found your images elsewhere it might be (probably is) worth doing though.

Thanks for all the responses! dabitch is probably "best answer" but I think I'll repost to AskMe in the hopes that someone else will know differently.
