Checking in with the quitters!→[More:]How's everybody doing? I'm on day four and it's not as bad as I thought. Not pleasant, but not horrid.
I didn't know there were quitters around. Quitting is one of my favorite topics. I smoked for 15 years, then quit about 3 1/2 years ago and have never looked back. It was tough. I devoted most of my attention to quitting for a few months.
But it is so, so, so worth it. If you need someone to tell you that, e-mail me anytime. I wish you all great luck. What you're doing for yourselves is a tremendous gift.
And if it doesn't work out this time, just try again soon. On average, it takes people between 4 and 7 honest tries before they make a final quit.
I would also like to mention that I still hate quitting, hate not smoking and find the notion of never having another cigarette as long as I live terribly depressing. However, these feelings arrive about twice an hour as opposed to twice a minute, so that's pretty good.
Divine Wino: Those eprisodes will continue to slow down in frequency until they become very rare. At this point, I get an odd urge to smoke only every few months when very stressed. And it's a weak urge, because I'm free of the addiction now, and the impetus never to go back to life as a tobacco slave is a lot stronger than the urge itself.
Also, it helps not to think about "the rest of your life" and just think about today, this week, etc. Whatever happens tomorrow is tomorrow. If you find you just can't live without smoking on some future day, you willgo back to it, so there's no point worrying about what you'll do and how you'll feel in the days to come. Today's the only thing you have control over. Big thanks to the world's recovering alcoholics; they taught us this.
That's awesome jrossi4r. I guess you either had relatively uncomplicated dino/neanderthal teeth or your got a really good surgeon.
Buddy of mine got his out Wednesday. Seemed fine a few hours afterwards. Heck - we drove him to Wendy's so he could pick up some nuggets of chicken to nibble on.
The next day - ugh - too bad we didn't get around to briefing him on how to pass as being T3-ineligible and get himself on some better meds until after-the-fact. He's better today, though.
