30 January 2006

I'm gonna be rich! [More:]Part of my job necessitates me being familiar with the Financial Services Authority Handbook, hardly the sexiest read around (although probably more interesting - and more factual - than 'A Million Little Pieces').

Anyway, today whilst looking something up, I came across this.

There's a very interesting-looking hyperlink in the light green frame in the middle of the page.

So the numbers that'll win Friday's £125 million Euro Lotto jackpot will by Thursday be mine, mine, I say, all mine [cackles evilly ...]
Sorry, I just clicked on the link too, and I sped ahead to the week after that, waited until you deposited the check, and then I stole your identity to access your account, and then I relocated all the funds into my own bank.

Thanks for the link, essexjan ! ! !

Damn! I reckoned without that pesky iconomy! Foiled again!

You look great today iconomy. Did you get a haircut or something?
Anyway, how's it going?

So can I have 100,000 Euros?

How come nobody thinks about going into the past, where our money is worth more, and making wise investments? Seems like that would work quite well also. Not as sexy, though, I suppose. What if you came back to the present though and realized you were this bling-ified, coke addicted asshole? Or worse - dead?

Did I just blow yer mind?

You know what else no one thinks about? Right now the Earth is spinning really fast, and going around the sun really fast, and the sun is going around the centre of the Milky Way really fast, and the Milky Way is moving in relation to other galaxies really fast.

If you go back in time, and you want to end up not somewhere in the vacuum of space, you also have to travel millions or billions of miles in space instantly too, and plan your landing point perfectly.

If you could do that, you could skip the bother of time travel and make your money with a teleportation company.

I've thought of that before, Capn.

I'm sorry, that was a lie. I hadn't thought of that before.

Dude, it would totally suck to get your time travel device all working and perfect and stuff and then set it for, like, 1066 and then end up in space! Also, you'd be dead. I never thought of this before either and I think about time travel all the time sometimes - are you sure it would work this way? Doesn't it take more like geologic time for the earth to move significantly?

Who's to say that time travel hasn't already been invented in the future, but they didn't account for the distance problem, and now there are dozens of dead timetravellersicles floating about in space in the plane of earth's orbit, and that an impact with a frozen timetraveller was what brought down the Space Shuttle Columbia?

Think about it, people.

one of you please adopt me and get me the hell out of this country?

Capn, thank you for clarifying the time-space connection (continuum?) for me. I know they are connected but for some reason my teeny brain could never really wrap itself around why they were connected.

Amberglow, as soon as polygamy is legal in Canada, you can marry the mister (I hope you like bears) and work on your Canadian citizenship.

Man, I want to put that on my resume, or as a testimonial or something.

Never read it, but fake memoirs have this car crash type attraction. You don't REALLY want to read it, but...

Or maybe that was just Go Ask Alice and its little bite-sized journal entries.

Feel free, Capn.
