"USA Network has ordered a pilot of "EBaum's World," a new show based on the website that hosts an irreverent collection of user-generated home videos and humor. The idea is for the show to air after RAW on Monday nights."→[More:]

How does a website that hosts stolen content get offered a television show? And what can they possibly offer? I'm boggled by the news.

Holy crap. I guess it will be something like America's Funniest Home Videos, in that they'll just broadcast a bunch of videos. I wonder if USA Network knows that the content isn't owned by Ebaum's World? I'm thinking it has to be new content though, right? Why would we watch a TV program based on videos we can see online?

The best part will be when people start screencapping the Ebaum's World TV show videos and putting them on their websites, claiming them as their own.

I think it'll tank pretty quickly once they start getting sued for misusing other people's intellectual property.

I'm gonna make two archives of eBaum's content, and photoshop Salvidor Dali's signature on one and Mark Kostabi's on the other. Then I'll host them on seperate servers, auction the rights off on eBay, and make a fortune.

Ebaums world has deep pockets of their own. The problem is that each of the creators that are getting ripped off don't have the financial means to hire a lawyer to take them on.

I'm looking forward to Beavis-and-Butthead/Jackass-style lawsuits after Ebaum's World starts encouraging people to videotape themselves doing really stupid things.
