It's Mozart's 250th birthday today. →[More:]And yet, there is no post on Mefi to commemorate the date... Saddened, I am, about this.

I'm at work, so I can't put together something appropriate for the Mefi FP. But, you know, somebody could. (I'm surprised nobody has yet; I mean, Google's paying homage and all... Metafilter should too.)

But in lieu of a Mefi FPP, then how about this: Mozart fans of metachat-- I propose a toast to wish Herr Wolfgang a Happy Birthday.

Yay Mozart! Actually my friends are taking me out to a Mozart thingy next week for my birthday. I toast him now and I'll toast him then too.

My daughter heard about this on the radio today. I had to pull out the pictures from our trip to Salzburg because she wanted to see where he was born. Then we had to look up pictures of "Mrs. Mozart" and the kids. Then we put on some of his tunes and danced. It was a very happy Mozart birthday.

It's also Holocaust Rememberance Day today (a fact impressed upon me by my son, who woke me up this morning by bursting into my bedroom and announcing "Guess what today is!" and when I tried "Friday?" he said, No, "Today is the day that Auschwitz was liberated!" He's a bit of a WWII history buff); anyway, the lack of an FPP about this surprises me too.

Unfortunately, the mini idea was ditched, not only for financial reasons, but also because after having a car for almost 1 year, I've decided that my relationship with a car should be purely functional and I should be allowed to get it dirty and banged up and use it as an extra-large purse and CD holder, whereas with a pricey pretty car I'd always have to be worrying about keeping it perfect and pretty.
