Nice. Never even considered putting advertising on any site I've ever been involved in, let alone my blog which (once upon a time) got some decent traffic. I mean shit, don't these people have jobs, or are they all just suffering from Kottke envy?

My only issue is with the second statement:

well Adland can't wear it as google ads are shown to all not logged in peeps these days. Google kept nagging me to do it, so I did. Now they call and want me to place more ads everywhere, which I won't do. Does google call everyone? Salesforce was working hard 2005!

btw - back in the day when we were totally clean of ads I sent out releases making that ironic point. No papers took the bait. Le sigh. Darn, and I thought it was funny.

I find myself neither quite agreeing with the anti-ad owl, nor the pro-ad bunny. I don't have ads on my site, but think its cool if anyone wants to use them & make a little bit of money from their sites. Which is almost what the slightly crazed-looking bunny says, except it would be absurd for me to claim that 'I believe making profits from my blog motivates me to write better posts every day.' I guess what I need is for someone to put up an ireallydontcareaboutblogads site with a cute cartoon three-toed sloth, or other similarly imperturbable beast stating how little he or she cares about the whole ads-on-blogs issue.

Thanks taz! You know I would’ve done it myself, only... I couldn't be bothered. Apathy & indecision are vices of mine, and I think the sloth should be my totem animal: I really like how you did it so that all three toes are clearly discernible. Now, I should get around to putting some new stuff on my blog, or I’ll never get any advertisers interested!
