Sillest URL you ever owned? Mine was "insomni.ac". I can't believe I paid lotsa money for it and did nothing with it.

I once noticed that toothpicks.com was unregistered, but my enthusiasm for toothpicks was insufficient to take action.

I owned nametagnation.com and was thinking of maing it a resource/place to bitch for retail workers, but soon after I bought it, I stopped working retail and it never happened.

Oh, and I did own floorotter.com. That's Floor Otter, not Floo Rotter. It was our nickname for the late great Mel the Cat. Demonstration of Mel doing the Floor Otter. (He was the best cat evar.)

My former coworker and I registered nakedbicyclist.org for the purposes of testing IP address host header mapping or something of that nature. We found some photos from the Fremont Solstice Parade (hippie/arty neighborhood in Seattle) and put them up there. I'm sure only 2 or 3 people ever saw it.

I have seriously considered registering MetalFilter about a thousand times. And FetaMilter, for that matter.

I used to make it a habit to come up with bizarre stuff just to see if there was a website out there for it. There is no youraboutasuglyasabucketofcocks.com, for better or worse.

I should note that the that URL above is an old and long running joke among my friends and is not intended to offend anyone.

Truth be told, it was part of a drinking game that was way too much fun to play.

How about MetaFliter.com?

The only thing that offends me about youraboutasuglyasabucketofcocks.com is that it is spelled incorrectly. It should be you'reaboutasuglyasabucketofcocks.com.

Matildabean, can you register a domain with an apostrophe in it? I've never tried.

But you're right, I'll amend it to, youareaboutasuglyasabucketofcocks.com. Though I think we'd slur it out more like uraboutasuglyasabucketacocks.com which would be a good fallback if someone registers the other one.

Other great domain names: A friend of mine has "skenbe.net" which translates to - "the shin".
I met one of my best mates due to his domain "bit.ch" when I asked if i could be user "d" on it. There is also a user "sonof".
Now that .cat is approved I want to get me something silly like ameri.cat and have all purdy kitties from the americas there. ;)

Mine was probably thesporeattic.com which was the name of a comic I used to draw. Nothing too crazy. The domain which had the weirdest search referrals was exquisitecribs.com which was a site where me and some friends did exquisite corpses all based on a quote from a book, any book.
