Metachat, your bunny tarot for today is... The Two of Pentacles. →[More:]
In the film "First Knight", Lancelot takes on a challenge - to move down a line of swinging blades crossing in front of him at random intervals. He succeeds because he is alert, agile and patient. He knows when to move and when to stay still. He glides through the dangers enjoying every moment of this deadly obstacle course. Lancelot has tapped the energy of the Two of Pentacles.
There is nothing quite like the feeling of being graceful and effective at the same time. On the Two of Pentacles we see a young man dancing as he juggles his worldly concerns. The infinity sign loops around the two pentacles to suggest that he can handle unlimited problems. In the background we see two ships riding the waves easily - cruising the ups and downs of life.
In readings, the Two of Pentacles lets you know that you can juggle all demands made upon you. In fact, you will relish the excitement of every hurdle. If you do not feel this level of confidence right now, this card asks you to believe in yourself. You have all you need to meet your every goal and more. Embrace the challenge.
The Two of Pentacles also reminds you to be flexible. Lancelot could not have navigated the swords walking in a straight line. He had to move freely and lightly in all directions as needed. You too must be supple if you want to prevail. Don't force your way through or you will be cut down. Now is not the time to be rigid. Know that sometimes a side step, or even a back step is the surest way forward.
The Two of Pentacles is also a symbol of fun, laughter and good times. It is definitely a high-energy card. If you are feeling tired or depressed, this card may be a sign that greater vitality will be yours. If you are feeling revved already, the Two of Pentacles could be a warning against overstimulation. Be sure you get the rest you need so that you can enjoy the up energy of this card. (info via)
It's funny... you drew the Tower recently, and I found out yesterday that the company I work for is being bought out. So a "you can do it" message is appreciated.
By the way, taz, thanks for doing this. It's already become a daily must-check for me. Your readings are great -- are you transcribing from a traditional source or adding your own spin and interpretation?
Synchronicity: I had a change of heart meds and it's kicking my ass with sedation. I called in to work to say I wasn't able to drive (yet.. I hope). The bossman says: 1) We got a new client / partner. 2)the power is out because transformers blew up in the main switchyard and knocked out about 1/8th of the town.
So I'm home taking it easy.
The cards work because they encode Jungian archetypes. It doesn't matter which one you pick, there will be deep meaning available. Synchronicity is more than just observation bias, somehow the cards pick themselves.
Or alternately, everyone's life is so rich that the cards just shift the focus of attention, thereby stimulating insight.
I don't buy any of this occult supernatural foo-foo, but whatever floats yer boat.
As agro mentions, I'm using the interpretations from learntarot.com. It's fun to try to do your own interpretations, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about all the iconography and history, etc.
I think tarot is fun... I don't have any deep feelings about the metaphysics of it; I just like all sorts of pictogrammic/iconographical means for relaying difficult concepts. It's fascinating to me. I have a deck, and I sometimes draw a single card for myself as a means of concentrating my thoughts or considering new ideas or ways of looking at what's happening in my life, and I thought it would be a kick to do a bunny version for the site.
For the most part, I don't really think of "occult" in occult terms. I like reading about all sorts of things, and finding parallels, crossovers and motifs in a lot of different metaphysical, psychological and philosophical stuff. Or.. even things like advertising or pop culture - but especially the regarding the visuals. It's all kind of a big soup to me, and I like making connections between things. Sort of. Kind of hard to explain, really.
warbaby, taz: thanks for those excellent takes on the uses of the 'occult' arts. I'm a huge rationalist, too, but I've always found that certain things of this sort really resonate with me, and have accepted them for what they're worth in my life. The connection to Jungian archetypes makes a tremendous amount of sense.
