Most excellent, sciurus! Thank you.

Persimmons are my favorite fruit. There are a few different kinds; I only eat the ones that look like this - they're the only ones you can eat while they're still firm. I ate 6 of them yesterday. They're about the size of limes, and they taste like butterscotch. SO GOOD.

The other kinds have to ripen to the point where they're ready to burst like a water balloon before you can eat them, and the texture is all slimy and mushy and gross.

I find the persimmon an insipid fruit, sugary but lacking in character. But I can't say I dislike it, or that I don't jump at the chance to eat one.

Persimmons are wonderful. We serve the ones that iconomy linked to above with fresh crab and pear slivers on arugula at work. Delicious!

That poem, however, is all kinds of beautiful and yeah.

It definitely is. I forgot to read it, in my excitement about eating persimmons.

I'm not much into poetry, but that was beautiful.

And as for persimmons, the soft ones -- stick them in the freezer. After they're frozen, eat them with a spoon. Persimmon sorbet.

I'm hoping to be promoted to Persimmon Phil's position, now that he's permanently visiting Wu.
