Crap, now SpoFi is gone! What is it with sites disappearing on me lately?? Is nothing permanent???

I stopped going to SpoFi... it seemed to attract a lot of non-mefite chuckleheads after a while. No offense against the creators of the site.

Mefite chuckleheads have a completely different set of baggage than the "you team sucks" chuckleheads which populate 99% of the web's sports message boards. SpoFi's founders did a good job counteracting the MeFi baggage early on. The "your team sucks" has been a bigger challenge.

Hey, I think "your favorite sports team sucks," sucks. But it sure beats "you followed the link on my user page and then Googled me so you're a stalker, you should be banned, I should call the Po-leeeeeeeeeeeece *tizzy tizzy*." Fucking meffy.

And spoffy has a nice balance of folks getting serious things done (by that I mean conversing about sports) and mouthing off (GO TERPS! GOOOO TERPS! GO GO GO MOTHERFUCKING TERRRRRRRRPS!). Like I said, I like it.
