I'd been thinking for a while of doing a post about gene conflicts, but then I said to myself, "why bother, it's a lot of work to find good links and very few will appreciate it", and just bought a book about it instead.

Yep -- he was right. And even though the MeTa commentary wasn't terribly kind, you've gotta think of the 200 people who read it, took it in, and said nothing, but who filed away the knowledge that when they post it oughta be halfway decent.

Somehow, this sort of process keeps the place on the rails.
