Boozefilter. Is there any good booze with an ampersand in the name?

No, J&B isn't good.
Martini & Rossi. Asti Spumante.

Just kidding. I dunno.

Damn it, me3dia, I was just going to say the same thing.

I suppose Bartles & Jaymes doesn't really cut it either.

Martini & Rossi Vermouth ain't bad. Just a few drops with some ice-cold gin and a twist of lemon makes a fine martini. I suppose that doesn't really fit your parameters, though.

Black & White scotch whisky.

A fine Dom Perignon from Moet & Chandon?
posted by amro 11 January | 23:31
Why?

Isn't that like judging a book by its cover or a person by the number of moles on their face?

Finlandia = heaven-quality water and sweat grain alcohol.

Iceberg = above-heaven-quality water and cheapassed Ontarionian corn ethanol that's far too sweet.

Bushmills = smokey and tasty & everything-other-than-ethanol-free & non-side-effects whiskey.

Canadian Club = cheap, sweat, non-brain rotting, "light," non-offensive, chug-a-lug-a-lug whisky.

Glenmorangie = affordable (at least in Canada - different story in the US) yet complex, non-offensive, medium-peat, Highland whisky.

how about a nice gin & tonic?
posted by nomis 12 January | 00:03
mullacc: hmm, I haven't ever tasted black & white scotch. I'll have to remedy that at some point, though it seems tough to remedy in the US.

amro: good call! it's overrated (for less money, I'd rather have Perrier-Jouet Fleur, or Veuve Clicquot Grand Dame), but that's competent booze.

porpoise: as for the why, I mentioned to a friend that the J&B I was drinking was absolutely terrible. He replied "I don't drink alcohol with ampersands in it." We could come up with no counter-example (except perhaps B&B Benedictine).

nomis: "& tonic" doesn't count :) of COURSE I'd like a nice gin & tonic!

I have a cover of it by Sissy Bar that I can post when I get home, if you like.

Martini & Rossi? I guess it's not bad, but aren't Cinzano, Noilly Prat, and Vya all better, for not much more (except for Vya)?

*shrugs* It's what I have in the fridge.

Oops. Too late again...

Though if you have Benedictine and Brandy, you can vary the mix to make it sweet or dry to your taste. I've been drinking 1:4 with coffee lately. It helps to have a nearly full coffee cup of boiling water to warm the snifter in. Mmmmmmm.

Benedictine is also nice in a Straights Sling. These were very popular at Chez Warbaby last Summer and gave me a chance to ply the syphon bottle.

Is anyone still mixing cocktails in this thread? I'll take... anything, please.

R&R (Rich and Rare)Whiskey is neither rich nor rare, but it is a passable drink.

But I'll drink anything.
