MD and DC Members, I need your help! I started my new ethnic groceries project, and I'd love help adding to the list.[More:]I just started with a quick and dirty list of the places on my mind, but I'm going to go back and flesh out the entries with addresses, maybe pictures, specialities, etc. If you've got favorite ethnic groceries in the DC/Baltimore area, let me know and I'll add them. If you're a devotee, and like this idea, let me know and I'll give you posting privileges.
This is a brilliant idea!

I know of a lot of places, but don't have much first-hand experience with them. Great idea though, so I'll try and provide some input sometime soon.

Did I miss something this is in reference to?

Ethylene, can we please keep this thread about ethnic groceries? There's plenty of other threads you can post your stuff to. Thanks.

I wonder if amro is moving to MD or DC?

Omiewise, have you seen this list? There's sound on the page, so be prepared to turn down your speakers.

danostuporstar and iconomy - I've been looking for a job in Baltimore (among a few other places) for after I graduate from grad school in May. omiewise has been incredibly generous with his time and patient re: my general cluelessness and attendant questions about the city.

Aw. He's the best. Good luck with the job hunting, amro!

Ditto, especially the Baltimore part.

Eden Market in NoVA is pretty great (and varied -- everything you could ask for, if you could ask in Vietnamese), and while it's not specifically ethnic, Lexington Market in Baltimore is one of my favoritest places on Earth.

That's a great project, omiewise!

iconomy-I hadn't seen that list, and I googled a couple of different ways. Thanks for the link. That's ok, it's a great list (I've shopped at many of the stores on it), but I want to be a bit more specific. Plus, that list doesn't get as far north as I am.

I like Lexington Market, but I actually prefer the smaller markets in other parts of the city. Northeastern Market is right by where I work, so I walk there for lunch about once a week.

Damn, I shopped at a bunch of great ethnic places in Silver Spring, but I only recall them as "The Thai grocery place" and the "Ethiopian grocery place." We also went to the Korean Korner were Randolph Road and Viers Mill come together. There are a few Italian places in Silver Spring too, but I wasn't all that impressed. I'll try and remember the names of some of the places went to and get back to you, OmieWise.

Just a suggestion, but plotting your finds in Google Earth and making it available as a refreshable networked link would be cool.

omiewise, sadly I don't have any dc/baltimore grocery hookups, but I think this is a fantastic idea.

"Google Earth" - omg, I just googled it.
