Lola's Health Watch 2005 You called that rebound!

So, was feeling better then BAM got slammed with a high fever again last night. Went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night and my pjs were soaked.

Yuck.

Then this morning, I feel like a new woman. Not well but clearly over the hump (fingers crossed...I hope).
Oops. I thought for sure I typed 2006. I like living in the past I guess...

You sweated it out, girl.

(Note: I sweat in bed every night, and usually wake up around 2-3am with my throat completely parched, then I chug some milk or OJ and go back to sleep.)

Zithromax, baby. Getcherself some Zithromax. They say this current virus likes to recur. (Full disclosure: I'm just getting over it too.)

Speaking of OJ, this immunity defense version is heaven sent.

Also, why does Tony Danza have a talk show? I must say the mind reels.

oh man, no.
don't turn it into another cipro.

i mean, don't advertize a drug by name. people overuse and become resistant.

Besides, I thought antibiotics were exclusively for bacterial infections...short of flu shots...I thought you had to suffer through the viral infections.

Cause he insists on being on TV, and we can't figure out what else to do with the meatball.

I liked him on Taxi, though.

Ehh, we should limit antibiotic overuse, but we're already sunk. It might be the human race's downfall even. Doctors went so nuts prescribing penicillin when it was first discovered that I believe the surgeon general declared virus infections completely wiped out, or somesuch. Then the (accidentally) selectively-bred virii came back as super-virii. Über Virii, even. And someone said, "I toldja so," 'cuz he had told 'em so.

If this particular virus goes into your lungs and stays there a while, ya may as well get antibiotics. If you can kick it with Mucinex and saline nasal spray and ibuprofen like the doc will tell you to try first, then more power to ya.

Good to know. Its been in the lungs since the start but I have a doctors appointment tomorrow for something completely unrelated but maybe she'll hook me up.

Just to be clear, and we should be clear, antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses. If you've got the flu, which is a viral infection, antibiotics do nothing to help you. Ditto a cold. Pneumonia, on the other hand, is controlled with antibiotics.

Don't take antibiotics unless you've had a culture done to determine you have bacteria on board. Sheesh.

I loved my doctor in NZ. He was so anti-antibiotic prescribing that he would prescribe me lots of codeine to take away the pain of my sore throat while waiting for the strep cultures

Yeah, please don't take antibiotics. Also, please don't use antibacterial soap and stay to the right on stairs and escalators.
