As far as I understand, the FL Meta_____ contingent is pretty lacking.

Well, I lived on SW 77th off Kendall for 2 years, but I escaped. But stop by Shorty's for some pulled pork and Fox's Lounge for a beer, both in my name.

The only SoFla mefite I know of is travis v, who left me a few comments on my blog but is admittedly not much of a joiner.

Yeah, I remember the traffic on Kendall Drive coming home from work. Worse than anything I've seen in New York, plus the daily monsoon every day at 5pm in the summer.

(Both Shorty's and Fox's are worth the trip, though. Really. Along with the great drinks and atmosphere, the "Santa Fe Fries" at Fox's are superlative bar eats. And they have a jukebox full of vintage vinyl 45's, God bless 'em)

Boca? When I arrived in Miami, I had a job offer in Boca. All I knew was that it was a "suburb of Miami," didn't realize how far it was until I got on 95. Whne I found out the job was for less than 20k, I said screw it.

Boca's not even close enough to be consider a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. Ha ha, you got hosed by the FL Underemployment squad. I narrowly escaped that same fate.

I lived in Florida for years (in Fort Lauderdale, near downtown). I would have been up for this, but I moved to California in June. MeFi/MoFi member Melinika and I had a Broward meetup about a year ago when she was in the area visiting family, but there wasn't much interest from anyone else (and we posted meetup threads on both sites).
